XTREME FITNESS TIPS
MAKE UP YOUR MIND
Often times we say “I want to lose weight”, “I don’t want to lose weight, I just want to tone”, “I don’t want muscles”, “I want to gain weight”. Make up your mind. You have to first know exactly what you want before you can do anything about it. Then once you find out what you want, stop talking about it and be about it.
CHANGE YOUR LIFESTYLE TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE
“Summer is coming, I want to get in shape”, “My sister is getting married, and I have to fit into my dress”. We always want to get in shape for a special occasion or event and then when it’s over we go back to our old habits. You have to change your lifestyle to change your life because it’s not about reaching your goal; it’s about keeping your goal.
TAKE A BEFORE AND AFTER PHOTO
By taking a before and after photo it will allow you to see what you were to what you become. It can also keep you motivated because whenever you feel like you’re not making progress the picture will show that you are.
START READING FOOD LABELS
Start reading food labels. I know it can be a pain in the neck but this is very important because it will enable you to know how much calories you are consuming, so you will know how much calories you have to burn.
SET REALISTIC GOALS
“I want to lose 20 lbs in 2 weeks”. Set a realistic goal. If you try to do too much too soon you will get burned out and quit. So set a goal that you know you can stick with like aiming to lose 1-1.5 lbs per week.
DON’T COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS
“I want Beyonce’s body”. “I want Abs like LL Cool J”. Stop comparing yourself to others! Everybody is different and their bodies respond differently to different things. So focus on what works for you and not what works for others and the only way to know what works for you is by trial and error.
A CALORIE IS NOT A CALORIE
“This bag of chips only has 100 calories.” Calories are not made the same. A calorie in a cookie is different from a calorie in a chicken breast, because a chicken breast is more nutrient dense than a cookie and the body processes it more efficiently.
AVOID THE SCALE
“I gained 3 lbs! I weighed less this morning.” Don’t weigh yourself everyday because weight fluctuates frequently and you will drive yourself crazy if you weigh yourself every day.
MAINTAIN YOUR PRIORITIES
“I couldn’t make it to the gym. I had a hair appointment.” “I didn’t eat lunch, because I had a lot of work to do.” Maintain your priorities. Health should be first priority because without health you have nothing no matter what you have to do.
DON’T OVERDO IT
Less is more! Don’t overdo it. More is not always better. Quality dominates Quantity…
